Know More About AMSOB
Advanced Marine Station for Ocean Biology (AMSOB) is an important component of Deep Ocean Mission to be established in close partnership with several other leading research institutions. The mandate of AMSOB is to carry out path-breaking research in ocean biology, to develop interdisciplinary pedagogy and platforms for training scholars and to serve as a hub for national and international research and educational collaborations. The research station is being established at Nemmeli, Tamil Nadu.
The research station is planned to be established as a hub-and-spokes model. While the hub is being established at Nemmeli, south of Chennai, on the East Coast Road, the spokes will be developed at MoES institutions and other academic and research institutions located in different states of India.
The mission of Advanced Marine Station for Ocean Biology is the development of human capacity and enterprise in ocean biology and engineering. This component will translate research into industrial application and product development through on-site business incubator facilities. This component will support the Blue Economy priority area of Marine Biology, Blue trade and Blue manufacturing
To be at the forefront of ocean biological research, integrating cutting-edge technology and interdisciplinary approaches to unlock the mysteries of the ocean. Our vision is to inspire global stewardship of marine environments through international collaborations, promoting sustainable use and protection of ocean resources through capacity building by education, research, and scientific excellence.
To pioneer innovative research and sustainable practices in Ocean biology, Marine biotechnology and related engineering through fostering a deeper understanding of ocean ecosystems and their vital role in global biodiversity, developing, incubating and transferring technologies using marine bioresources. We aim to lead the way in marine conservation, ensuring the health and resilience of our oceans for future generations.
