AMSOB, NIOT has entered into Memorandum of Understanding during 20th August 2025 with Vikrama Simhapuri University, under the Ministry of Education, a UGC recognised State University under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, having its registered office in/at Kakutur, Nellore – 524 324, Andhra Pradesh. The M. Sc. Marine Biology course is being conducted by Vikrama Simhapuri University,Nellore, and is being sponsored to attain the objectives of capacity building programmes of AMSOB.


  • Marine Biotechnology: Exploration of marine organisms for biotechnological applications, such as pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, and biofuels, leveraging unique biochemical properties and genetic resources found in marine biodiversity.

VSU–NIOT Collaborative Initiatives in Sustainable Shrimp Aquaculture,Nellore.

Under the M.Sc. Marine Biology programme, the following initiatives are undertaken in collaboration with NIOT:

  • Joint Research Development: Research on disease management, feed optimization, and water quality monitoring for sustainable shrimp aquaculture.
  • Regional Aquaculture Innovation:  Development of region-specific technologies and pilot models to promote sustainable shrimp farming practices.
  • Training, Internships Skill Development: Specialized workshops, hands-on training, academic exchange, and internships at NIOT for M.Sc. Marine Biology students and researchers.
  • Best Practice Manuals Digital Tools: Preparation of manuals and digital resources for shrimp farmers, integrating traditional knowledge with modern aquaculture practices.
  • Centre of Excellence: Establishment of a joint Centre of Excellence in Shrimp Aquaculture Innovation for research, training, and entrepreneurship.
  • Policy-Oriented Research Advisory Support: Providing research-based inputs to support sustainable aquaculture development and evidence-based decision-making.

This programme is intended to advance the marine biology curricula and teaching modules with the support of MoES Deep Ocean Mission programme V6 - Advanced Marine Station for Ocean Biology executed through National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai.


The selection of students will be based on entrance examination conducted by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) being followed by the university as admission procedure. The question paper consists of objective type of questions of multiple. The question will to test the basic knowledge of students in basic life science.

As prescribed in the University Prospects - a recognized Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Zoology / Botany / Fisheries/ Aquaculture /and other courses of Life Science.
